AI-accelerated infrastructure brings GPU, TPU, and custom accelerator systems into the enterprise control plane. VMware Cloud Foundation needed to make those systems understandable and manageable for the administrators responsible for running them.
Complete case study
The challenge
Accelerator infrastructure introduces technically dense operations and unfamiliar workflows. The challenge was to give enterprise administrators meaningful control without hiding the system details they need to make informed decisions.
Designing the administration experience
As a core member of the VCF AI Design Team, I designed product interfaces for administering GPU, TPU, and custom accelerator infrastructure and led UX strategy for AI and HPC workflows within VMware Cloud Foundation.
The approach
I mapped complex infrastructure operations into clearer product workflows, working across product design and R&D. The work also included collaboration with VMware Research and UC Berkeley on next-generation AI infrastructure.
The outcome
The resulting UX direction simplified complex infrastructure operations for enterprise administrators and connected near-term product workflows with longer-horizon infrastructure research.
